Bexley, DA5
Close to Bexley town centre, in a busy urban location, the site contained a rundown, locally listed, light industrial building with a number of sprawling outbuildings. The whole was supported by an important small area of green amenity space to the fore, in an area of green space deficit. A magnificent mature tree sat centre stage. We achieved consent for conversion of the main building to apartments utilising a design that specifically preserved the building’s historic elevational appearance. The outbuildings were demolished and in their place 3no storey town houses were planned into the rear of the site adding much needed local housing. Collectively this formed a pleasant high density scheme on previously developed land set back from the roadside behind the newly enhanced landscaped area to the fore.
