St. Dunstan’s, Canterbury

On a relatively small site, with former light industrial use in a central Canterbury conservation area,  we were tasked with providing a  mix of housing, creating  a sense of place  within what became  a relatively dense development and incorporating  private and shared amenity space to better integrate built form.   Eight apartments and six houses built around a central internal courtyard provided intimacy and outlook. The design referenced the late Georgian and ‘Arts & Crafts’ domestic architecture found in the locality to harmonise with the traditional residential streetscenes of this quarter of the town.
