Putney SW15

At a prominent focal point in the west Putney conservation area, consent was gained for demolition of an historical house and replacement  with two substantial semi-detached houses designed  to read visually as a single Arts and Craft villa. The scale, characteristic  asymmetrical form and materials reflected the original larger villas that populate the locality.  The proportionality and diversity of design across elevational planes disguised the internal planning of the two houses over four floors.  We gained consent but changing market conditions dictated that our client look to change the internal form and the scheme was replanned as eight apartments incorporating only minimal change to the originally scheme.   The scheme was built out along passive haus’ principles.
